Your Professional Tasting Mats

You can make notes about each wine on your professional wine tasting mat to keep track of your scores and help you pick a winner. Give your favourite wine a star rating (out of five stars) equivalent to a wine show medal score.

Remember, wine tasting should be fun – there are no right or wrong answers, and every opinion counts. Taste is very subjective and no two palates are alike so different wine tasters will find unique characters and flavours in each wine – and that's fine!

Your wine tasting checklist

Here's a handy checklist to help you prepare for your Wine of the Year Finalists tasting:

- Standard-sized wine glasses
- Tasting mats (print extras)
- Finger food or snacks – bread or crackers help 'clean' the palate between tastes
- A container to use as a spittoon. We recommend spitting as you taste to help you keep a clear head and reach a balanced verdict!

Of course, once your tasting is complete you can sit back and savour all the wines... especially your favourites
